Horse riding on the beach at Bovo Marina
They are organised by L’operAmmare, the sports association linked to Villa Domizia.
The stables are 2 km from the villa and 250 m from the beach.
The rides and prices
L’operAmmare offers five rides, from a first pony ride to a half day for experienced riders.
- 2 hours with refreshments: €75 per person, from age 5
- 1 hour: €55 per person, from age 5
- 1 hour for children, in the arena: €50 per child, from age 3
- Pony, 20 minutes: €15 per child, from age 3
- Half day for experienced riders, 5 hours, with lunch or aperitif: €300 per couple
The 1- and 2-hour rides take 1 to 5 riders; the half day, 2 to 6.
Back at the stables, the refreshments include cheese, cured meats, bread with extra virgin olive oil, wine and soft drinks.
The routes: Capo Bianco, Torre Salsa and the Foce del Platani
From the stables, the Ippovia Sicani bridle trail runs between the nature reserve and the sea.
- Capo Bianco: the white cliff at the Foce del Platani, with a view of the Scala dei Turchi
- Torre Salsa: the reserve’s pine forest and the Dama Bianca cliff
- Half day: at least 3.5 hours in the saddle, between the Eraclea Minoa excavations and the Platani river
In the Platani, riders who wish can swim with their horse.
In 2 hours you cover about 6–7 km; in 1 hour, about 3 km.
Riding with children, from age 3
In the hour dedicated to them, children get to know the horse or pony, groom it and help to tack it up.
Then they mount for a first lesson in the arena. Parents can watch and take photos and videos.
The pony is always led, and a parent can stay beside the child.
Children under 14 always ride with an adult, either mounted or on foot.
Guide, helmet and back protector on every ride

At the stables, every rider receives basic riding instruction, English or Western style.
Long trousers and closed shoes are recommended. Companions can follow the ride on foot, free of charge.
Horse ride and a night at Villa Domizia
From November to March, anyone booking a ride can stay in a room at the villa, at €100 per night.
Choose one of L’operAmmare’s five rides, at list prices.
In winter the villa is heated, with radiators and heat pumps in every room.
